Despite our name, A Cruising Couple, you won’t typically find us on cruises. Call it bad branding, but we initially decided to name our blog A Cruising Couple because of the idea that we were cruisin’ around the U.S. on our honeymoon road trip…

But though we don’t frequently go on cruises, we do enjoy them when we do—especially when they are luxurious cruises with world-class cuisine and amenities. And as it turns out, we’re not alone! Expedia.com asked us to share our top reason to take a cruise as your next vacation, and for good reason.

In a recent travel survey by Exedia.com, the vast majority of Americans polled revealed they would like to book a cruise as their next vacation.

If you’ve thought about a cruise but you’re still not sure if it’s for you or not, here are a few reasons you might want to consider one for your next vacation:

1. The Ultimate In Relaxation

One of the best reasons to take a cruise is the opportunity to truly relax and recharge. When you’re planning a trip or traveling solo, it can be exhausting to figure out where you need to go, how you’re going to get there, etc. A cruise is great because all you do is board the ship and then let the crew take care of you from port to port! If you’re looking more for a way to relax than to take a deep-dive into a new destination or culture, then a cruise could be right for you.

2. Great For Families and Groups of Friends

Most of the times we have taken cruises, we have been traveling with a large group of family members. Cruises are excellent for this as you get to spend plenty of family time together without having to worry about everyone’s different opinions and ideas. If some people want to eat and others want to go to the pool, no problem. Spend some time together, some apart, and ultimately enjoy the experience without being at one another’s necks the entire time.

3. See Multiple Destinations On A Quick Time Frame

If you don’t have ample vacation time, a cruise is a smart way to see multiple different locations. Sure, it might just be a snapshot of the destination, but at least it will introduce you to new places that you might choose to return to in the future for a more extended vacation. This is especially true of Mediterranean cruises and river cruises through Europe.

4. Cruises For All Budgets and Styles

Whether you’re on a tight budget or looking for a luxury splurge, there’s a cruise that will fit your needs. This goes for families, couples, solo travelers and more. One of the great things about the cruise industry is how diverse it indeed is, once you start looking into the various options available.

5. Try A New Adventure

If all you want to do is read by the pool on your cruise, that’s great. But there are many adventures possible, especially when you stop at ports of call! Try your hand at scuba diving. Go tubing or rappelling. Cycle or hike to waterfalls. The options, of course, depend on where you’re headed on your cruise, but don’t be afraid to get your heart pumping with a brand new adventure activity!
