Located in the center of Rio, the Archos da Lapa are at the heart of the city’s infamous nightlife. The structure stands over 17 meters high and it’s 42 arches span a total of 270 meters. Here you’ll find numerous bars and clubs blasting everything from electronic to samba to salsa. The Sala Cecilia Meireles is considered to put on the best concert of chamber music in Rio while the Rio Scenerium is another popular spot which hosts live samba music well into the night. While considered the most bohemian of the neighborhoods in Rio de Janeiro, it is also home to several monuments including the Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro. The Cathedral is a full 80 meters high and can hold about 20,000 people.

Really interesting architecture & can’t believe how much the capacity is! Didn’t make it to this neighbourhood when I visited so it’s nice to get a feel for it!
