Joanne, we just returned from our travels with Cantimplora Travel and let me tell you: it exceeded our expectations. Our experience reminded us of all the reasons why we love what we do so much. They were amazing to work with and made our time in Mexico extra special. As this was our first time having a private photographer, and Dan usually takes our pics, I’m not quite sure what the process is for other countries. I can tell you, though, that having a photographer that was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable made all the difference. I would definitely suggest looking for these qualities in any photographer you hire. You might be able to find photographers as you go, but if you’re set on having a private photographer, I wouldn’t take the risk of looking for one along the way. If you connect with a local travel photographer, it’s possible that you could choose to have him or her join you for parts of your trip, if you would prefer to have some time just exploring on your own. As for the cost, I would say that it’s 100% worth it to have the experience of a private travel photographer at least once in your life. As Cantimplora Travel mentioned in the other comment, splitting the cost by going in a group of 12 is a great way to meet awesome new people while saving a bit of money on the photography. All in all, though, I think that if you’re going to invest in a once-in-a-lifetime vacation, it only makes sense to go ahead and make sure you will have quality pictures to remember every moment.

We design travel routes out of our experience traveling Mexico as local profesional travel photographers. We travel with small groups of up to 12 people (which is why the cost of the photographer is not that much), we like to travel off the beaten path, we are adventurous but we like a good bed at the end of the day, Sam is also a great architect and is obsessed with design, so we know pretty nice little hotels where we love to stay.

We encourage our travelers to travel responsively taking care of natural resources and promote the right use of water. And, we give back. A 10% of our profits go to help a local entrepreneur family to fulfill their dreams. Of course our travelers get to meet them on the trip.
