Glacier Hiking New Zealand

After traveling to over 20 countries, New Zealand is still one of my favorites just for it’s sheer beauty and limitless activities. Adventures ranging from hiking, mountain biking and even bungy jumping can all be found here. One of the most memorable days of my trip was the stop at Franz Joseph Glacier. It was such an other-worldly experience to be walking around the frozen landscape with ice pillars rising and dropping off in an instant. Pictured here is the group before us climbing the face of the enormous ice sheet. Because of the dangerous conditions and the ever present danger of falling through the ice, the only way to get onto the glacier is with a guide.  Have you ever visited a glacier?
