This photograph was taken at Playa del Arco, a stunningly secluded beach just outside of Uvita. Access is only granted after a short hike through the jungle, where it’s not uncommon to spot monkeys, macaws and toucans. The beach is aptly named for the tunnels that arc through the cliffs; don’t miss the unique opportunity to go exploring through them! Just be sure to time your visit during low tide, or else you might find yourself stranded on the golden shores.
It’s possible to purchase tickets from Playa Ballena then make the short hike to the beach. Alternatively, ask the locals for the “free” route – despite the beach’s isolation, everyone knows about Playa del Arco.

I love seeing those animals Dan. Costa Rica is about my fave country on earth because rare, beautiful animals are largely not terrified of humans. They’ll stick their heads out, chill and be seen because hunting is kept in check there. Really respect the heck out of the Ticos and I think many countries on earth can learn a thing or 2 about ENJOYING wildlife and letting it be instead of hunting it.
Thanks for the snapshot Dave and keep on inspiring!
