Costa Rica 1

This photograph was taken at Playa del Arco, a stunningly secluded beach just outside of Uvita. Access is only granted after a short hike through the jungle, where it’s not uncommon to spot monkeys, macaws and toucans. The beach is aptly named for the tunnels that arc through the cliffs; don’t miss the unique opportunity to go exploring through them! Just be sure to time your visit during low tide, or else you might find yourself stranded on the golden shores.

It’s possible to purchase tickets from Playa Ballena then make the short hike to the beach. Alternatively, ask the locals for the “free” route – despite the beach’s isolation, everyone knows about Playa del Arco.
