I also agree that you should travel together before getting serious (or married) :)
My first trip together with my boyfriend ended also up in a snowpocalypse while trying reaching Ljubljana – I’ve described some of the shameful moments in my last post about Ljubljana, and can really say that it really brought up as close as we are today!
And today, that is one of my dearest memory :)
