Though we were really only able to spend about 36 hours in Amsterdam, we loved how compact and pedestrian friendly the city was. We loved just wandering the city along the canals. We eventually found Amsterdam’s floating flower market, the only one of its kind in the world. It’s a traditional market in Amsterdam where beautiful flowers and plants are sold on floating houseboats all year long. Across the street are also couple of cheese shops where you can sample multiple local flavors.
I actually couldn’t believe how many varieties of tulip they have for sale! I wanted all of them.

I totally understand – they are so gorgeous!
Amsterdam was quaint when we visited in the early ’90s But I also was disappointed that there was so much liter and graffiti. Have they cleaned it up?
They have a bit, but it was hard to tell because there were so many people there while we were visiting!
