In honor of the 2014 FIFA World Cup games coming to a close, we wanted to take this opportunity to share the rest of our photos and memories from watching the games throughout Brazil this past month. In case you missed it, you can view Part 1 here!
We had an awesome time cheering on Costa Rica, but with a 0-0 draw we felt it had only wet our appetite for watching the World Cup games in action. The only solution? Go to another game! We just so happened to start chatting with a couple who wouldn’t be able to make their match in Brasilia (where we were headed next) and secured 2 tickets to the France vs Nigeria match. This time the seats were in the second row!
After seeing France and Nigeria play up-close, it was time head back to the streets and cheer on Brazil against Chile and Colombia.
As you can imagine, the streets erupted in celebration and tears of joy after the final penalty kick was taken and Brazil came out the winner.
Looks like it’s time to start training for the next World Cup!
Have you ever attended a World Event? What’s your favorite sport to watch live?
Amazing!! We’ve all been watching here on Roatan and cheering Honduras on until they got kicked out. I’ve been working at a dive shop the last few weeks owned by Argentinians, so we’ve been rooting for them (yesterday was a big bummer but a great excuse to get drunk!). Super jealous that you guys are down there…what an incredible experience it must have been! I was in Peru during the Copa Americana in 2011 and let’s just say it was ‘intense’ :)

It has been quite a journey to say the least. There were quite a few Argentinians in Rio who were pretty upset as well. We met a gang who traveled 30 hours on a bus from Buenos Aires to stand outside and watch the game in the streets of Rio. Very dedicated fans, and a very disappointing bus ride home in afraid.
Great pics…I can almost feel the energy, what an amazing experience you must have had! I was lucky enough to go back to Vancouver for a visit during the 2010 winter Olympics and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life. It’s a wonderful thing to see people from all over the world come together in celebration (or disappointment). Despite the competition component it felt like the normal lines of separation were erased and we were all just human beings rather than being divided by race or age etc. Was it like that in Brazil?

We certainly felt that way in Brazil as well! Everywhere you would see people with different jersey’s and backgrounds hugging and laughing together. It was really great to see! We saw that everywhere, except after Germany scored in the final match. That one caused a lot of tension.
Party time!
Amazing pictures which really capture the moment. It looks like you guys had an amazing experience and what a result to land seats in row 2 of such a big game!
I’ve not attended a football World Cup. Last year I was at the final of the Rugby League World Cup. In 2003 I was in Australia and able to attend a couple of the Rugby Union World Cup matches.

We were amazed when we found our seats. We really couldn’t believe our luck! I spent a semester in Australia and watched a couple of rugby matches. I can imagine rugby fans at the Union World Cup are probably just about as die-hard as they come!
Beautifully clear photos of so many happy people. Glad you had fun.
