This may come as a bit of a shock: not all of our days are rainbows and butterflies.
While most of our instagram and facebook updates focus on beautiful places and spaces, sometimes traveling full-time is just a bit sucky. Like when you have to sleep in the airport. Or you have to get on a plane four days in a row. Or you’re spending an absurd amount of money to travel through Norway only so that it can rain and rain and rain.
Don’t get us wrong- we still love what we are doing, and we’re lucky to say that the good days far outweigh the bad. It’s just not always easy.
This photo was taken outside Bergen, Norway on one of those dreary days. Despite the rainy weather, Norway is still one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever visited. And though we’re leaving Europe quite a bit poorer than when we arrived, we think we can say that every last penny – and rain drop- was worth it.
Stay tuned tomorrow for some updates on what the next few months hold in store! We have three new countries lined up for the next 20 days – we’ll finally be sharing in full our upcoming adventures!

It’s true. Travelling (and living) in another country / continent can take its toll, and not necessarily just the weather: sometimes just being able to sit back for more than 12 hrs and appreciate the view, surroundings is all it takes.

We quickly realized all we wanted to do was sit back and relax for a bit. It’s a big world and we want to see it all so sometimes you just need to remember to stay present and enjoy the moment :-)
Yes, we always post our best photos on social media, but good to see the other side as well!

Not all days are spent on the beach with a cocktail in hand :-p
It is true rain can put a glum mood on a visit somewhere but it sounds like you made the most of it.
Norway had a very mild winter this year by their standards. I was close to Stavanger in March and they said they’d had no snow which is virtually unheard of.

Apparently we had more snow in North Carolina than they did in Stockholm this year. We couldn’t believe it. Before seeing it for ourselves we always though Scandinavia was covered in permafrost year-round :-p Turns out that’s not the case.
Ain’t that the truth! We are living in Costa Rica, and the amount of rain we get here is impossible for our friends and families in Southern California to understand. We tell them it rains every single day at 2pm and they think we’re nuts for living here!

Haha, we had the same experience while housesitting in CR. We were looking after a cat in a cloud forest climate and you would know when it was mid-afternoon because the thunderclouds would start rolling in. Really great for reading and writing indoors, not so much for exploring :-p
