We’re super stoked to be kick starting this week with an awesome gear review and giveaway!
Love free stuff? Perfect!
Let’s get started then.
One thing we really don’t enjoy about travelling is living out of a backpack. No matter how hard we try to keep our belongings organized, it never works. Give us five minutes and the bottom of our bags will look like a hot, wrinkled mess. Shoes, dirty clothes, and toiletries…they all jumble together in order to drive us mad while we’re looking for the one thing we actually need.
Enter the Hoboroll—the ultimate organizational tool for your travels.
To be completely honest, when we first received our Hoboroll to review, we weren’t sure how useful it was going to be. A bag to put in a bigger bag? Sounds and looks like just more stuff to carry around.
Once we started getting into it though, we realized the Hoboroll actually had some pretty useful features that could make packing—and staying organized—a whole heck of a lot easier.
At its core, the Hoboroll is a nylon tube with drawstring closures at either end. Inside the ‘tube’ are 5 compartments that resemble the wedges of a grapefruit. To get started with the Hoboroll, cinch one end tight. Begin filling each compartment with desired contents. Easy enough. When all your stuff is inside, close the other drawstring and behold your super-organized carry bag. Snap the outside buckles shut, pull the compression strap, and watch as your belongings shrink in size. Pretty nifty stuff here.
We tested the Hoboroll with two pairs of socks, three shirts, a warm-up jacket, a pair of jeans, and a pair of shoes. It was a bit snug, but we managed to get it all in, organized, and compressed in no time. Had we not chosen athletic shoes, we would have been able to compress the bag even farther.
Once we had our Hoboroll loaded, we were quite impressed with the amount of clothing that actually did fit compactly inside. We can see this being the perfect bag to bundle your workout gear in or for packing a carry on bag when flying.
A few other things we loved:
- The bag is made of durable, lightweight nylon—perfect for outdoor adventures
- Drawstrings on both end of the bag make finding belongings easy
- It stands alone as a carry on bag, or it easily fits inside a larger suitcase
- The inside compartments are flexible. It’s easy to fit bulky items in some compartments and smaller items in others.
Whether we’re trying to organize gear, separate dirty clothing, save space in our already overloaded packs, or conveniently carry on belongings, the Hoboroll is going to be our go-to bag from now on.

That sounds like a super way to pack when you are as one the move as you two!
That “on” the move
We’re excited to test it out more and see how useful it really is. Right now we’re pretty pumped about it :)
So exciting! Going to give the snap lock bags a miss in December!
Sounds like a great plan! :)
I’m just wondering if it doesn’t wrinkle your clothes too much?
That’s a really good point! I think if you roll your clothes before putting them in that they stay fairly wrinkle-free, but I wouldn’t put anything too nice in there I guess! Haha I’m so accustomed to all my clothes being horribly wrinkled when we travel that I didn’t think too much about it!
Looks like a great little carry-on bag. When traveling to Africa on safari, we had to figure out how to take 6 weeks of clothing in one duffel each – that was quite a challenge (especially for Janice, who usually drags a whopping huge suitcase with her). It was quite a surprise to discover how little one actually needs when traveling (especially if you pack the right stuff). And it turned out to be very freeing to have so little luggage.
That sounds like an amazing trip! What a good way to simplify, too. I’m really hoping that one of these days I’ll learn how to pack less :) I always regret bringing so much along but I never seem to learn my lesson.
What a unique take on “storage cubes” The idea makes complete sense, I would love to try one in February in Costa Rica!
Excited to hear you will be coming to Costa Rica! We are loving it so far- definitely a great place to try out the Hoboroll :)
I love free stuff!

YAY! We do too :) Good luck!
I rely on lightweight, washable cotton drawstring bags – all-fabric for shoes, plastic-lined for toiletries – to keep things organized while traveling. A compact, portable garment steamer comes in handy, too!
