Suri tribe Ethiopia

Every time the tourists come near the village (which is not very often) children start running around in panic, painting themselves with festive colors and searching for »souvenirs« that they could sell. Then they begin the attack on tourists; they follow them around, poke every inch of their body and shout: FOTO FOTO, BRR, BRR! (birr is the Ethiopian currency). Not much you can do there.

But if you manage to escape from the crowd you can find some of shier children watching from nearby. They are much kinder when you approach them and you can take photo of them in peace. Like these two boys, they were just sitting there on an old stump, waiting for me to come to them. And that’s why I like this photo, I took it without pressure of someone yelling at me »foto, foto, brr, brr!«
