We are excited to share a special post with you today!
Our friend James over at Fly, Icarus, Fly recently nominated us to participate in the Capture the Color Photo Contest. The concept is simple: choose your best photos that celebrate and capture the colors red, blue, green, yellow and white.
It was surprisingly challenging to dive into our archives and find photographs that we felt adequately represented these colors, especially with so many other amazing photo contributions to follow. You’ll most likely recognize the pictures we chose as they have almost all been featured on the blog at some point in time. We hope you’ll enjoy them just as much, maybe even more, a second time around.
This image comes from Burning Boat Festival in Taiwan. In the celebration, a 14-meter wooden boat is set on fire (via military grade firecrackers) forcing bad spirits out of the town and leaving peace in their place. It is definitely one of the most unique festivals we’ve ever attended.
Hello Halong Bay. One of the first places we visited in Vietnam, Halong Bay is likely one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever visited. If you don’t believe us, check out the entire post dedicated to photographs of the iconic tourist destination.
This image comes from Chihkan Towers in Tainan, Taiwan. The Dutch first laid the foundation to Chihkan Towers (Fort Provintia) in 1653, although today most of the features have been reconstructed. At night the fort grounds alight to create a perfectly mystical ambience.
We like to think we discovered El Nido, Philippines, before everyone else did. While this probably isn’t true, traveling to El Nido provided us with a kind of escape we’ve never experienced before. This is highly due to the fact that one evening we slept on a private island, only the stars above us and the ocean before us (and the staff that cooked amazing meals behind us). Talk about romantic!
Living in Taiwan afforded us the opportunity to attend many festivals. Quite the contrast to Burning Boat Festival is the Calla Lily Festival. Every spring, the small town of Jhuzihu is overcome by white, delicate Calla lilies, as field after field bursts into nearly two million blooms.
