Dan loves to surf. (He attributes it to attending University about five minutes from beautiful North Carolina beaches.) Unfortunately the west coast of Taiwan doesn’t offer too much to surfers. There is a bit of surfing to be had on the east coast though, most notably at Yilan and Taitung, as well as in the south at Kenting. Although the swell might not look like much in the photo, it was enough to spend a comfortable few hours catching waves. Be aware that Taiwanese are very into surfing at the moment, and you might find yourself fighting for room among many inexperienced ‘surfers’.
