365 Photo Project A Cruising Couple

This is a year full of firsts, and the Christmas tree is no exception. This is officially our first Christmas tree as a married couple, and we’re quite pleased with how it turned out. (Especially since our options were pretty limited here in good ‘ol Hsinchu.) It may not be a real tree, but we love it all the same.

It’s official, our guest bed is furnished and awaiting company.

Our Thanksgiving was a little bit delayed, but totally worth the wait! We managed to squeeze 15 people into our tiny apartment, where we had a feast including a whole turkey, chicken, beef, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes, mashed sweet potatoes, cheddar broccoli soup, ‘cranberry’ sauce,  salad, cheese, bread, fruit salad, cheesecake, brownies, pumpkin pie, melktart, and sangria. You would never have guessed we were in Taiwan and ovenless! We have a whole lot to be thankful for this year, and we were certainly grateful we were able to celebrate with our Hsinchu family.

Looks Kinda Like Stars

Learned about a really cool trick you can do with clementines. Apparently they are not only delicious, but  they make a pretty amazing clementine candle! All you have to do is cut the skin around the circumference and peel both halves off, careful not to rip the skin. One end should have a “wick” and the other should be bare. Put a decent amount of oil (we used olive oil) in the wick side and let it soak for a minute or two. While that’s happening cut a cool little design in the bare end to let the heat of the candle escape. Once your wick is fully saturated, just fire a match, light ‘er up and you’ve got yourself an all natural clementine candle. Burns for approx. 30 mins, although ours lasted over an hour before we just blew it out.

Happy Thanksgiving!! We’ll be celebrating on Saturday, so look forward to pictures this weekend :-)

Any clever ideas on what to do with our spent water jugs? We have a drinking problem so we kinda have a lot laying around.

YAY

The 7-11s and Family Marts are great for so many reasons. One of them is that after you earn a certain amount of stickers from your purchases, you can redeem the said stickers for ice cream. Yes please.

There are lots of awesome southeast asian restaurants in the area, and we love to try out new restaurants whenever we can. This place is called Tamarind Thai and is in Jhubei. They have really incredible curries that are so worth trying.

The title might be a little bit deceiving. We didn’t get massages that lasted six months; rather, we both indulged in a 60 minute massage to celebrate our ‘six month anniversary’. It was totally worth it, even though they pushed and pulled in painful ways I didn’t know were possible. Definitely felt the knots worked out during this massage! The place is great and pretty inexpensive. The staff speaks great English, so just google Fun massage, Hsinchu Taiwan and you are sure to find it!
